Is this just another goal app I will abandon in two weeks?
The apps you abandoned died because they only knew what you typed, and you stopped typing. RM Life keeps measuring on the days you log nothing: completed calendar events, opt-in place visits, hours by category. A bad week produces data instead of a dead app, and each new week starts clean instead of carrying a permanent mark against you.
Do I have to hand over my location and app usage?
No. The full core loop works with every permission denied: goals, calendar, weekly planning, and review. You check things off manually and the app runs on your calendar. Location and phone-time tracking are optional upgrades. They are off by default, asked for only at the moment they would help you, and reversible any time.
Who sees my data?
You do. Everything is private by default and enforced on the server, not just hidden in the interface. Sharing is per friend and per item: a friend sees a goal only if you share that goal. You can export your main records or delete your account from Settings; the privacy policy lists exactly what each one covers. We do not sell personal information. The details are in the privacy policy.
Will background location destroy my battery?
Place logging uses geofences, the battery-friendly mechanism built into Android for exactly this, rather than continuously running GPS. You can see what is on, turn any of it off in the app, and the core experience never depends on it.
When does it launch, and can I get in early?
RM Life is in active development for both iOS and Android and has not launched yet. There is no public release date to promise, and we would rather leave the date blank than miss one. Join the waitlist and you get one email the day it goes live, plus first access if a beta opens before then.
What will it cost?
The plan is a free trial with no payment method required to start it, then a simple subscription after the trial, cancellable any time through the App Store or Google Play. Exact pricing is not final yet, so treat that as the intent rather than a quote. One honest note most apps bury: deleting an app does not cancel a subscription, so cancel in the store if you go.
Is it on iPhone?
Both iOS and Android are planned for launch. One difference to know in advance: the phone-time comparison is Android-only, because Apple does not allow apps to read screen-time data. On iOS, planned versus actual will run on your calendar and places instead.
Is it going to shame me when I fall short?
No. That is a design rule, not a mood. Gaps are shown as information with a next step attached, never as red marks or a running tally of failures. The app is designed to help you throughout the week, not to become a burden.
Will Google Calendar sync duplicate all my events?
Sync is two-way with built-in conflict resolution and a pending-changes queue, engineered specifically so both calendars stay consistent. Your existing events appear in RM Life; plans you make flow back to Google Calendar once, not twice.
What does "planned vs. actual" actually mean?
You plan the week: goals scheduled as calendar events. Then the week happens. RM Life compares the two: which planned events were completed, which places you actually visited, how your hours split across areas of life. The weekly review puts the plan and the reality side by side so next week's plan gets smarter.
Why is it called RM Life? Is it a religious app?
The app started in the returned-missionary community, hence the name RM (for Returned Missionary). Weekly planning is a way of life there, and it is built by someone from that world. The structure comes from that practice, and Spiritual is one of the four areas rather than an afterthought. You do not have to share the faith behind it to use it: four areas of life, a weekly plan, and an honest look at the real week work for anyone rebuilding structure. If you are a returned missionary, this page is for you.
Be there for week one
